“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.” 1 Peter 2:11-12 (Context: 1 Peter 2:11-17)
We live as ambassadors in a foreign land. We know the world’s passions and values will not align with those of our King. There will be laws which are unjust, perhaps even unconstitutional. Injustice will not delay the day when God comes to visit. We ought to fill our roles in society well, while remembering that our first role is to bear our Father’s Name well. Honor Him until He comes.

- “Father, please give me the wisdom and courage to be your faithful ambassador first and a faithful citizen second.”
