So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. Acts 9:31 (Context: Acts 9:1-31)
Ananias had heard of Saul but, fearing the Lord more, he took comfort in the work of the Holy Spirit and brought Saul grace. Barnabas and enough fear of the Lord and peace in the Holy Spirit to see past the risks of befriending Saul and to the glory which God was bringing to himself. On the road to Damascus Jesus taught Paul to fear the Lord and then comforted him with the Holy Spirit. When its people walked in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit, the Church multiplied.
- “Lord, in the decisions I face today let me fear You and nothing else.”
- “Lord, when fears and worries creep into my heart today, teach me to take comfort in the Holy Spirit.”
