“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35 (Context: John 13:1-38)
Jesus said, “Just as I have loved you.” He said this just after He humbled Himself by washing the disciples’ feet. He had just shared a meal with the man He knew would betray Him. He knew the next day He would lay down His life for me, and for you. He said this, commanding that we should do the same. Why? So people will know that we are His.
- How could I humbly serve someone today?
- How could I befriend an enemy today?
- How could I lay down my life (all or part) for a Brother or Sister today?
