“For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.” James 1:11 (Context: James 1:1-18)
It’s a wonderful thing to watch a baby snuggle up and sleep in a bustling household. They’re too busy growing to be troubled by the chaos around them. We can chase the stuff we like and run around trying to stay ahead of the next trial, or we can rest and not waste energy on things that don’t help us grow. Wisdom humbly let’s go of fading riches, pursues what will last, and rejoices to grow perfect and complete.
- Trials reveal priorities. What withering flower should I let go of?
- “Father, what truth should I rest in to grow in this trial?”
