This is a women’s group for moms of young kids, teens, and anything in between. They offer a morning session at church on Thursdays with childcare and one evening session every other Monday in Dunlap without childcare. There is a devotional and Bible study that’s simple yet rich in God’s Word for moms seeking to stay grounded in Truth. Sign up using MyBethany or contact the church office.
H.E.A.R.T. is a ministry at Bethany that seeks to provide support to women and couples who are grieving the loss of a baby at any stage of life. Join them for a work night; no skills are needed. Tie ribbons on ornaments, fill Keepsake bags, and put items in stillbirth boxes. These resources are given out through hospitals, doctor offices, pregnancy centers, and more.
All grandparents are invited to join us at Bethany for an hour devoted to praying for your grandchildren. For questions contact Rod Abel at rbabel4952@gmail.com.
Our Soccer ministry meets outside on the Bethany soccer fields from May-September and inside the Bethany gym from October-April. If you have any questions, contact Mandy Hobbs: aswright@mail.bradley.edu.
Icebreaker: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for a friend? Why did you do it and what was the result?
Discussion 1: The paralytic’s friends went to great lengths to bring him to Jesus, even lowering him through the roof. The text says, “Jesus saw their faith.” How does their radical act demonstrate their faith?
Application 1: The friends demonstrated faith by bringing the paralytic to Jesus despite obstacles. Is there someone in your life who needs a friend like that? What type of radical acts might it take for them to meet Jesus?
Discussion 2: Jesus first forgives the man’s sins, which surprises the crowd and angers the scribes. Why do you think Jesus prioritized forgiveness over physical healing? Why do you think the Pharisees were so angered by His words?
Application 2: Jesus addresses the paralytic’s greatest need by forgiving his sins. What might it look like to prioritize spiritual needs over other needs? What does the Pharisees’ attitude reveal about their hearts?
Discussion 3: How does the physical miracle of healing the man show that Jesus has the authority to forgive sins? How does this miracle reinforce Jesus’s identity, and why was this important for the crowd and the religious leaders to understand?
Application 3: Jesus showed that He has authority over both the spiritual and physical worlds. Are there ways in which you are focusing too much on the physical and neglecting the spiritual? Is there sin that you need to confess or a hard heart like the Pharisees you need to be softened?
