Weekly Schedule
VBS is almost here! Now is the time to register your children. We also need many of you to volunteer and help make VBS a reality this year. For all volunteers, we have new VBS t-shirts—even if you have one from a previous year, this year’s design is different. Be sure to grab one from the foyer. Visit bethanycentral.org/vbs to register your kids or to volunteer.
There is an opportunity to be baptized at our next Summer Celebration service in July. If you are interested in participating, email info@bethanycentral.org or call the church office. Connect with us to begin the process or to talk with someone from our ministry staff team with any questions or concerns you may have.
Our monthly compassion offering collection is happening this week after each service. This isn’t part of our regular tithes—this is something special we do to meet real, practical needs within our own church community. You can contribute to the Compassion Offering by visiting bethanycentral.org/compassion or by giving to the Compassion Fund after the service this week, look for ushers holding special offering baskets at the end of our service.
Announcements
Our faithful teachers take a well-deserved break over the summer, and we need your help to fill in! Whether you can serve one week or more, we need classroom helpers and Large Group teachers. This is a great chance for parents, grandparents, or family members to serve alongside a child they love. We still have many openings, would you consider helping? Email children@bethanycentral.org.
SummerFest is a special youth group event for 4 Wednesdays each summer. The theme this year is Summer of Courage. It’s a time of fellowship, fun, and teaching from guest speakers. It runs from 6-8:30pm on June 11th at Cottonwood, June 18th at the Plattner’s, July 9th at the Gray’s, and July 16th at Bethany. Go to bethanycentral.org/summerfest for more details and locations of each meeting place.
Throughout the year, Bethany offers ongoing and short-term Ladies’ Bible Studies that meet at various times throughout the week. We have morning, afternoon, and evening classes. There are several options to study either Jesus in the Psalms or Proverbs 3:5-6 this summer!
Ladies of all ages are invited to Hobby Night in the Lakeside area. Bring whatever project you’re working on and a snack, and work together while you enjoy each other’s company! Come when you can, leave when you have to. For questions, contact Abby Pfeiffer at abby@bethanycentral.org.
All ladies are invited to attend a baby shower for Jenni Anderson at Bethany. Jenni and Tavish are expecting a baby boy in August. They are registered at babylist.com.
Icebreaker: Who is someone in your life who inspires or influences you deeply? What makes them stand out?
Discussion 1: Jesus healed the blind man in two stages, restoring partial sight and then complete vision. Why do you think this miracle happened in two steps? How might this process illustrate how people gradually understand who Jesus is?
Application 1: Like the blind man, our spiritual understanding often grows in stages. Are there areas in your faith where you still see partially? How could you go about growing in those areas?
Discussion 2: When Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter responded, “You are the Christ.” Why was this confession significant, and why do you think Jesus told them not to tell anyone about Him at that time?
Application 2: Jesus asks each of us, “Who do you say that I am?” What are some common ways to answer this question? How would you personally answer that question in your life today? Why is this the most important question for every person?
Discussion 3: Jesus explains that He must suffer, be rejected, and die, and He calls His followers to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Him. How could the disciples have received this message, especially after Peter’s confession? Why is self-denial essential in following Jesus?
Application 3: Jesus calls His followers to deny themselves and take up their cross. What does “taking up your cross” look like in your life? Are there specific ways you can practice self-denial in your life this week?
