Sunday Worship
Weekly Schedule
Over 800 people joined us for a day of fun, food, and connection—many from our community. More than 400 guests attended our drama where the gospel was shared, and we were able to give away over 92 Bibles. We want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered and served to make this outreach possible. We are grateful for our church family and the way you came together to bless our community!
Save the date! In two weeks, we’ll come together for our Congregational Meeting. This is a special time to hear how God is moving through the various ministries of our church. Everyone is welcome to attend—whether you’re a member or not! Lunch will be provided.
Our monthly compassion offering collection is happening this week after each service. This isn’t part of our regular tithes—this is something special we do to meet real, practical needs within our own church community. You can contribute to the Compassion Offering by visiting bethanycentral.org/compassion or by giving to the Compassion Fund after the service this week.
Announcements
We are excited to be voting new members into Bethany in two weeks. Watch next week’s bulletin for details on whom you can be encouraging and welcoming into our church family.
The Pasture is a space for members and attenders to connect with our pastors and elders—ask questions, share thoughts, or get to know one another. Whatever is on your heart—we’d love to hear from you. Coffee and pastries will be provided. Everyone is invited for this Q&A session.
If you attend Bethany and are a senior saint, widow, single mother, or college student, our Car Care team wants to bless you by preparing your car for the winter, free of charge. Services include oil & filter changes, brake & suspension inspection, tire inspection, fluid top-off, air filter changes, and wiper blade replacement. Email Jake Tourtillott, our care director, at jake@bethanycentral.org today to schedule your free appointment.
BEST (Boomers Engaged in Serving and Sharing Together) is hosting a lunch in the Bethany Café. We will discuss Medicare and Money, including 2026 Medicare changes, managing your money for a lifetime, giving wisely, and legacy planning for family, church, and community. Plan to join us and bring a friend—this event is open to anyone, regardless of church affiliation. Go to bethanycentral.org/best RSVP or call the church office.
Join Jen Weers in a 6-week Bible Overview class on Thursdays at Bethany. This class is for anyone who is new to studying the Bible, wants a broader picture of the whole Bible, or wants a refresher on all God’s Word offers us, and provides a foundation for more in-depth study. Everyone is welcome so be sure to tell your friends! Use your myBethany to register.
Soccer meets outside on the Bethany soccer fields from May-September and inside the Bethany gym from October-April. If you have any questions, contact Mandy Hobbs: aswright@mail.bradley.edu.
Icebreaker: If you could witness any historical event (but not change it), what would it be? Why?
Discussion 1: Simon of Cyrene was forced to carry Jesus’s cross, and Jesus was offered wine mixed with myrrh, but refused it. What do these details reveal about how Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecy (see Psalm 22:1, 6-8, and 19, and 69:21)? Why are these details important?
Application 1: Isaiah foretold a Messiah who would be “despised and rejected,” who would bear our griefs and be pierced for our transgressions (Isaiah 53). How does seeing Jesus fulfill this prophecy deepen your understanding of His love for you? Do you struggle with the fact that Jesus was despised and rejected for your sake?
Discussion 2: Even as He hung dying, Jesus was mocked. Why do you think Mark mentioned this mocking? How does this moment challenge our ideas of power and victory? How does Jesus’s weakness fly in the face of our world’s view of strength?
Application 2: Jesus stayed on the cross when He could have come down, choosing obedience and love over vindication. Are there times when you are tempted to vindicate yourself when you should remain silent? Are there times when you struggle to choose love over argument and defense?
Discussion 3: At Jesus’s death, the temple curtain was torn in two, and a Roman centurion declared, “Truly this man was the Son of God.” Why is it significant that the curtain is torn from top to bottom? What does this detail signify? What do you think convinced a Roman centurion to change his view so abruptly?
Application 3: The torn curtain means we now have direct access to God through Jesus. See Hebrews 4:16. How can you more fully live in that reality, approaching God with confidence and boldness? How can we become ambassadors to let people know the way is open?
