Sunday Worship
Weekly Schedule
Fall is the perfect time to jump into a community group for the first time. If you’ve never joined a group, or haven’t attended in a while, now is the time to find a group of believers to do life with. Go to bethanycentral.org/groups to learn more.
Our Summer Finale service is next week! Sunday, September 1st we have a single combined outdoor service at 10am (no Sunday school, children’s church, or ABC’s). We’ll have a picnic lunch after church so be sure to bring a chair for outdoor seating.
As a church we embrace the biblical encouragement to sing songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, using music to praise the Lord. Join us for a time of worship, followed by a dessert fellowship where we can share in the joy of community. Make sure to bring a chair for outdoor seating.
Our children’s ministry team has several key areas where volunteers are needed. Our Awana ministry is looking for a TNT girls director and Awana leaders. We are also looking to fill some buddy teams (special needs ministry). Go bethanycentral.org/servekids to learn more or get detailed information on one of these positions.
Announcements
Our Awana ministry (Wednesday night children’s ministry for grades K-5th) starts this week! It’s a great time for kids to make new friends, have fun, and learn God’s word! Registration is now closed but walk-up registration is always welcome.
Join us as we kick off our women’s ministries! Hear from leaders of MOMents, The Table, HEART, Seasons of Motherhood, Relational Development, and Ladies Bible Study about how you can get involved. Enjoy a short devotional followed by desserts and fellowship. Sign-up tables will be available that night. Don’t forget to invite friends and neighbors, and please RSVP to ajsceggel@gmail.com.
MOMents is a group for moms with children ages 0 to Kindergarten, offering community, growth, and support. We meet every other Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with childcare provided. Each session includes breakfast, a creative activity, and discussions led by guest speakers on topics relevant to our lives. For more info go to bethanycentral.org/moments.
We offer ongoing and short-term Ladies’ Bible Studies that meet at various times throughout the week. Several options are available for you to study God’s Word. The main study this fall will be in the book of Revelation on Tuesday mornings (with childcare) or Tuesday evenings (without childcare). Go to bethanycentral.org/ladies for more info.
This is a women’s group for moms of young kids, teens, and anything in between. They offer two morning sessions at church—Tuesdays with childcare and Thursdays without. There is a devotional and Bible study that’s simple yet rich in God’s Word for moms seeking to stay grounded in Truth. Sign up using MyBethany or contact the church office.
All ladies are invited to join us in the Bethany Café to celebrate Teresa Forsberg as she prepares to marry Dan Wilbur on November 16th! Teresa is registered at Target and Amazon. Please RSVP to Mandy Wilton by August 26th.
Icebreaker Question
Give every member an index card and a marker. Ask members to take 5-10 minutes to create a personal “King Trading Card.” IE, what would you be like as a King/Queen? It should include a portrait, a nickname for their “king,” made up stats (can be anything they feel fits), and one thing about how they would rule. When everyone is done mix them up and pass them out so every gets someone else’s card. Read them aloud.
Discussion Questions
These prophecies are very detailed and weren’t fulfilled for several years. What does that tell you about God? Does it give you confidence in God’s revealed truth?
Daniel 11 portrays a series of conflicts between earthly kingdoms, influenced by spiritual forces. What can we learn about the spiritual world, and spiritual warfare from this passage? What does it teach us about the sovereignty of God in the midst of human conflict in our world today?
At this point in history, Israel was coming to the end of their 70-year exile in Babylon and the future of their nation was unclear to them. What would this message offer to them?
Application Questions
The conflicts and upheavals in this passage show the challenges we face in a world full of political instability and spiritual and physical warfare. How can we stay steadfast in faith and trust in God’s sovereignty even when we are living in the midst of these difficult circumstances? How do you think we should respond and what actions should we take during political instability, and even during war?
What can we see from this passage about God’s plan for human history?
