We will have a normal service at 9:00 AM, followed by a special baptism service at 10:30 AM. Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church will occur in the usual manner, but instead of our normal second service, we will spend this time celebrating as several individuals get baptized.

Night of Worship
Sunday, February 23, 6:00 pm

Night of Worship is happening next week! We are a singing church that loves to live out the Scripture of “singing songs and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in your hearts to the Lord.” Come for time of extended worship with a dessert fellowship afterward.

BEST (Boomers Engaged in Serving and Sharing Together) is hosting a lunch that will take place in the High School Room. Pastor Ritch will join to talk about the importance of prayer. Use your myBethany to RSVP or call the church office.

HEART Work Night
Monday, February 24, 6:30-8:00 PM

H.E.A.R.T. is a ministry at Bethany that seeks to provide support to women and couples who are grieving the loss of a baby at any stage of life. Join them for a work night; no skills are needed. Tie ribbons on ornaments, fill Keepsake bags, and put items in stillbirth boxes. These resources are given out through hospitals, doctor offices, pregnancy centers, and more.

Discussion Questions

Icebreaker: What is the earliest you’ve ever gotten up? Why did you get up that early? Are you an early riser or a night owl?

Discussion 1: When Jesus called Simon, Andrew, James, and John, they immediately left their work and followed Him. What do you think motivated such a radical and immediate response to Jesus’s call? What do their actions tell us about them?
Application 1: In v32-34, Jesus stayed up healing and casting out demons. Yet the next day He got up early to be alone and pray. What does this teach you about Jesus and His priorities? What does it teach you about His commitment to prayer?

Discussion 2: In v32, Jesus spent the evening healing everyone who was sick in the town they were in. What motivated Jesus to heal so many? How much energy and time would it have taken Jesus to serve in such a way?
Application 2: Like Jesus’s first disciples in Mark, we are called to leave behind certain things to follow Jesus. What is Jesus asking you to leave behind (whether habits, fears, or relationships) to walk more closely with Him?

Discussion 3: When the leper approached Jesus, he said, “If you will, you can make me clean.” What does this statement reveal about the leper’s faith and understanding of Jesus? How does Jesus’s response demonstrate His compassion and power?
Application 3: Jesus touched and healed the leper, demonstrating His willingness to reach out to the people others would stay away from. Are there people in your life who need your compassion, even if they are hard to love? How might you reach out to them in a specific way this week?
