Sunday Worship
Weekly Schedule
The class meets in Rm 813 in the adult wing. This one-session class features videos & class discussion. You’ll learn more about Bethany and discover the importance of membership and joining your local church. Sign up by going to bethanycentral.org/membership.
We will have a normal service at 9:00 AM, followed by a special baptism service at 10:30 AM. Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church will occur in the usual manner, but instead of our normal second service, we will spend this time celebrating as several individuals get baptized.
Night of Worship is happening in just two weeks. We are a singing church that loves to live out the Scripture of “singing songs and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in your hearts to the Lord.” Come for time of extended worship with a dessert fellowship afterward.
All grandparents are invited to join us on Saturday from 9am – 4pm for the Legacy Grandparenting Summit simulcast here at Bethany. You can register or learn more at bethanycentral.org/lgs.
Announcements
Our new series on the Book of Mark has begun! To help you engage, we’ve created a special notebook for sermon notes, group discussions, and prayer requests. You can pick up a physical copy at the sanctuary entrances or you can access a digital version at bethanycentral.org/notebook.
The Elders are pleased to announce the candidates entering the leadership development process for this cycle. They each shared their testimony and why they are excited to pursue the calling of leadership at Bethany. A webpage containing their answers is available at Bethanycentral.org/candidates.
Our Newcomers Lunch, originally scheduled for this Sunday after second service, has been postponed. The next Newcomers Lunch will now take place on April 27th. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming all newcomers at the rescheduled date!
This is a women’s group for moms of young kids, teens, and anything in between. They offer a morning session at church on Thursdays with childcare and one evening session every other Monday in Dunlap without childcare. There is a devotional and Bible study that’s simple yet rich in God’s Word for moms seeking to stay grounded in Truth. Sign up using MyBethany or contact the church office.
BEST (Boomers Engaged in Serving and Sharing Together) is hosting a lunch that will take place in the High School Room. Pastor Ritch will join to talk about the importance of prayer. Use your myBethany to RSVP or call the church office.
Icebreaker: What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? (It could be a dream, a challenge, or something from your bucket list.)
Discussion 1: What is the importance of the Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness? How does this experience of being tempted by Satan relate to Jesus’s mission and ministry?
Application 1: Mark has less detail on Jesus’s temptation. How did Jesus overcome the temptation of Satan (as shown in other parts of Scripture)? What lessons can we learn from Jesus’s temptation in the wilderness?
Discussion 2: What made Jesus’s teaching different from the Scribes and Pharisees? What did the people notice about His teaching? What does it mean that He taught with authority?
Application 2: Why do you think the people in Jesus’s day thought His teaching was new (even though He used the Scriptures in His teaching)?
Discussion 3: Why do you think Jesus told the unclean spirit to be silent? Do you think Jesus was objecting to the source of the truth or the timing or neither?
Application 3: How does Jesus’s power over the spiritual realm (unclean spirits) comfort you in your daily walk? Are there things you are afraid of that you need to release into Jesus’s power and strength?
