Sunday Worship
Weekly Schedule
We’ll be commissioning our New York City Team this Sunday as they prepare to leave on July 19 and serve through July 26. They will travel to NYC for a week of hands-on evangelism training through the ministry of Spread Truth. They will spend afternoons doing outreach—using tools like Story Walls, evangelistic prayer, and worldview surveys. Please be praying for safe travel and fruitful ministry. You can follow their updates at bethanycentral.org/nyc25.
The Pasture is a space for members and attenders to connect with our pastors and elders—ask questions, share thoughts, or get to know one another. Whatever is on your heart—we’d love to hear from you. Coffee and pastries will be provided.
This first gathering is specifically for those age 60 and older, with more gatherings planned soon for other age groups.
Join us for a Sunday morning donut fellowship before our single indoor service at 9:30am. (No ABCs, Sunday School, or Children’s Church. Nursery will be available.)
Then, come back at 6:00pm for our Summer Celebration—an indoor evening service with worship, testimonies, prayer, and more. Afterward, we’ll head outside for lake baptisms and enjoy a time of ice cream and fellowship together.
Announcements
Join us as Rachel Ellison, serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Nigeria, shares an update on her first term. She’ll talk about learning Hausa, adjusting to life and ministry in a new culture, and preparing for future translation work among an unreached people group. A short presentation will be followed by refreshments. All are welcome!
H.E.A.R.T. is a ministry at Bethany that seeks to provide support to women and couples who are grieving the loss of a baby at any stage of life. Join them for a work night; no skills are needed. Tie ribbons on ornaments, fill Keepsake bags, and put items in stillbirth boxes. These resources are given out through hospitals, doctor offices, pregnancy centers, and more.
Our Malawi Team departed last week and is now in-country finishing a week of conferences, children’s ministry, and neighborhood outreach. Please continue to pray for their ministry this week, and follow their updates at bethanycentral.org/malawi25.
The Table (for women) and The Anvil (for men) are small gatherings designed to help you build community and share life together. There are still spots open for both men and women! Visit bethanycentral.org/gatherings to browse all available gatherings and sign up!
Sign up to receive our Together Day by Day email devotional. This email is delivered each weekday and is written by elders and pastors at Bethany. It includes a devotional and prayer requests for those in the Bethany family as well as our GO Partners. To sign up go to Bethanycentral.org/togetheremail.
Join us each Sunday starting at 8:30am for a special time of fellowship and coffee. Connect with others from the church as well as Pastors and Elders.
Icebreaker: What’s the most exciting crowd you’ve ever been part of — like at a game, concert, or event? What made it so memorable?
Discussion 1: Blind Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus despite being told to be quiet. Why do you think Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” even though his need seemed obvious? What does Jesus’s response teach us?
Application 1: Bartimaeus boldly called out to Jesus and clearly expressed his need. Is there something you’ve been hesitant to bring honestly and persistently to Jesus? How can you approach Him this week with bold, faith-filled prayer? Is there something you need to ask for help with from someone in your church family?
Discussion 2: Jesus entered Jerusalem on a colt, and the people shouted “Hosanna!” hoping for deliverance. What expectations did the crowd likely have of Jesus, and how were those expectations radically different from what Jesus was there to accomplish?
Application 2: Sometimes we want Jesus to fix our circumstances, but we overlook the deeper transformation He wants to bring. Are there areas in your life where you need to let go of what you want to happen to make room for God’s plan? (Read James 1:2-7) Could this be an area where God is working to change you rather than deliver you?
Discussion 3: Jesus cursed a fig tree that had leaves but no fruit. What does this symbolic act say about the importance of bearing fruit in our lives? What is the connection between this and what was happening in Jerusalem at that time?
Application 3: What kind of fruit can you see and celebrate in your life today? Are there areas in your life where you would like to see more fruit?
