Highlights
Annual Meeting & Single Service
Sunday, April 06

Our Annual meeting is a time to hear ministry updates and, if you are a member, take part in the vote for the annual budget and elected officers. This year we’ve scheduled our services to allow more attendees and members to join this important meeting.

We will have a single service at 9:30 am (no Sunday School, ABC’s, or Children’s Church). With the annual meeting following that service at 11:00am and lunch provided.

Food Drive Starting Next Week

The Hands of Grace food pantry is organizing another collection starting next Sunday. View the items they are in need of by visiting their webpage and downloading a list. Beginning next week we will be handing out bags for the food collection. You can also support the ministry by signing up to serve at one of their upcoming distribution days. Visit bethanycentral.org/handsofgrace.

Discussion Questions

Icebreaker: If you could join one team (real or fictional) what would it be and why? (example, the Avengers, the Fellowship of the Ring, a sports team, music ensemble, etc). Bonus points if you describe what your role would be.

Discussion 1: What can we learn from the list of Jesus’s apostles? What are the similarities and differences between each man? What do you think were Jesus’s criteria for selection?
Application 1: Read Luke 14:26-30. What does this passage teach us about our commitment to following Jesus? What does Jesus require of those who would follow Him? What did the disciples leave behind to follow Jesus?

Discussion 2: The scribes accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan. Why did the Pharisees accuse Jesus of casting out demons in the name of Satan? How does Jesus’s logic reveal their true motives?
Application 2: Jesus faced opposition from those in power who were often jealous of His ministry and influence. How can we respond to opposition in humble and loving ways?

Discussion 3: When Jesus says, “Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother,” He redefines family in spiritual terms. How does this redefine family for us as Christians? How did His statement challenge the culture of His time and our time? What makes His statement so radical? Why did His earthly family think He was “out of his mind” (v21)?
Application 3: Jesus emphasized that those who do God’s will are a new family. In what ways can you strengthen your connection with other believers and cultivate a deeper sense of belonging in God’s new family?
