1) How did God make the water go down to have land appear again? Why is it important the Bible says God ‘remembered’ Noah?
– The Lord sent a great wind over the earth to cause the waters to go down. It is similar to Genesis 1. Whenever God remembers, it doesn’t mean that something or someone comes to his mind. It means that God is about to act and bring salvation for the people he loves.
2) What did Noah use to find out when it was safe to leave the Ark? What did he ultimately wait on?
– He sent out a raven and then sent out a dove three times until he knew it was safe to leave the ark. Even though he knew that the ground was dry, Noah waited till God said for him to leave the ark. He waited on God’s command.
3) What did Noah do after he stepped out of the Ark? Why?
– He built an altar and offered clean animals as a burnt offering of thanksgiving to God. God had just saved him from his wrath on the world, and by God’s grace he was saved.
4) What did God promise Noah in the Covenant he made with him?
– God promised that he would never destroy the earth with a flood again. The seasons would continue for as long as the earth continued. God also gave Noah the freedom to eat animals and put in place the importance of people still made in God’s image.
5) Why did God give the sign of the Rainbow?
– God gave the Rainbow as a reminder to both man and God that God had put his bow of judgment back on the shelf and the earth and its maker was at peace.
6) What do we see about Jesus from God’s saving Noah through the Flood?
– Through Noah’s flood, we can see a picture of the judgment to come. The world will be destroyed again, but this time in the fire’s of God’s judgment when he returns. The world will pass away to a New Heavens and a New Earth. Those who become part of the new world are those who have believed by faith and followed God’s commands (just as Noah did), and trust in the only place where safety from God’s future wrath can be found; in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.
