1) What does John see when he looks up to heaven coming down?
He sees the New Jerusalem coming down like a bride for a husband.
2) What are the 3 things that John says are “New”?
He tells us God will create a New Heavens, a New Earth, and a New Jerusalem.
3) When God is with us, what will be no more in this place?
There will be no death, no crying, no pain. All those things are gone.
4) Who does John say the New Jerusalem really is?
He says it is the bride, the wife of the lamb, which is the church.
5) How does John describe the church?
He says it has the glory of God, he says it has 12 gates, 12 angels, 12 tribes, 12 apostles, 12x12x12 like a perfect cube (the only other place in the Bible that has this is the Holy of Holies). He says it has all kinds of precious jewels, streets of gold, etc..
6) Why is there no Temple in the vision of the city?
There is no temple because God is fully with his people and they can dwell with him and can now finally see the fullness of his glory
7) Since Jesus is coming soon, how does John tell us we should live?
He says that everything written in Revelation is true, and the person who believes these words and obeys them will be blessed. Revelation is a book that helps us continue believing what is true and what will be true, no matter what persecution, suffering, or hard trials are ahead for us. God will come back and make everything right, reverse the curse of sin and death, and will be with his people once again. Come Lord Jesus!
