What is the big question Leviticus is going to answer?

The big question Leviticus is going to answer is how people who are sinful can live with a holy God. The book of Leviticus helps us understand the ways God made for people to be close to Him, even though they aren’t perfect.

How is Leviticus so different with how Israel can worship God compared to the other nations?

Leviticus is different because it shows that Israel’s way of worshiping God was about being holy and following God’s specific instructions. Other nations worshiped many gods in ways that were not holy, but Israel was taught to worship the one true God in a pure and special way.

What is the middle of Leviticus? What is the answer to how God can live with a sinful people?

The middle of Leviticus is about the Day of Atonement, a special day when the high priest would make a sacrifice to cover the sins of all the people. This shows how God can live with sinful people by providing a way for their sins to be forgiven.

What are the different kinds of offerings? What are they meant to say to God?

The different kinds of offerings include burnt offerings, grain offerings, peace offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings. Each of these offerings was meant to say something different to God, like “thank you,” “I’m sorry,” or “please forgive me.”

How do these offerings, the Day of Atonement, and the scapegoat point to Jesus? What can we now do to offer ourselves to God?

These offerings, the Day of Atonement, and the scapegoat point to Jesus because they were all about making people clean from their sins. Jesus is the ultimate sacrifice who takes away our sins once and for all. Now, we can offer ourselves to God by living in a way that pleases Him, just like Jesus did.
