Nigeria 2024
Returned
This is a trip to Africa in order to learn about the life and ministry of one of our sent partners. Our aim is to spend quality time with Rachel Ellison, to encourage her, to meet her co-workers and fellow church members.
Our hope is to bring hospitality and care to her and to return better equipped to spread the vision of what God is doing in Nigeria for the rest of the congregation to celebrate. This is NOT a work trip. It is a trip for a handful of church members and is ideal for those who already know and love Rachel or who are interested in getting to know her on a deeper level.

Today we began by visiting a local village church. The pastor didn’t seem to know how to expound upon the text. Therefore, what we heard came close to the gospel at times, but never really communicated boldly and clearly that there was grace available for sinners. Instead, we heard moralistic...

Today was a Nigerian holiday- National Workers Day. So, instead of heading to the SIL office, we visited an orphanage called Seeds of Hope. A Nigerian man named Bomshock met us and took us out to East Jos for the visit. Bomshock had an incredible testimony. He barely survived a muslim...

Today we got to go into the SIL Nigeria office with Rachel. They currently have over 100 workers there. It was an honor to meet so many servants of God. Many of the workers are native Nigerians. I was blown away by the sophistication of their work. It was like...

Jimmy, Rachel, Albert, and I woke up and, at 6am, began the drive from Abuja to Jos. There are minimal traffic rules, if any, so commuting is more of a free-for-all with some general principles rather than set laws. We stopped for gas, but there were few gas stations and the...
