Malawi 2023 – July 22

July 23, 2023

Today the team took a trip to the tourist attraction of Lake Malawi. We started the morning out with some breakfast before loading onto the bus. During a quick stop to buy some water and meet up with the families, a game of frisbee started in the parking lot. It evolved from a circle of our team throwing the frisbee to a smaller circle with some local kids playing as well.

Lake Malawi exceeded everyone’s expectations in beauty. We first ate at a buffet looking out on the lake. After finishing the delicious food, the team headed down to the beach. Most of us walked along, took some pictures, and some of us even went swimming.

On the way back to Newton’s house, we stopped at a roadside market. Kondi, Vanessa, Patricia, Chisomo, and Francisca were very helpful when negotiating the prices of the merchandise. Most of us, if not all of us, came out with a handful of items. The team enjoyed talking to each other and taking in snapshots of Malawian culture as we drove.

The food Vanessa has been providing has been such a wonderful blessing to us. After dinner, we held a devotional time and discussed plans for tomorrow. We will start our work, including some workshops, and attend church in the morning!

We are thankful to the Lord that no one is feeling sick as of yet and jet lag hasn’t posed great opposition amongst the team. Prayer requests for today include Jimmy’s preaching and the workshops going well tomorrow. Praise the Lord it was another smooth day with some tourism aspects.
