Malawi 2023 – July 31 & Aug 1
These past two days kind of run together with the switching time zones. On Monday, we spent our last morning in Malawi. We had breakfast and brunch together before saying some goodbyes and heading to the airport. We said our final goodbyes to our host families at the airport.

We then spent some hours on an airplane going from Lilongwe, Malawi to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The flight was running a little bit behind, and we had a quick connection to our next flight. According to the boarding times on our tickets, by the time we got into the airport, we had 20 minutes to get on our next flight. This was a crazy time, but we all made it safely. Our only struggles going through security involved Daniel needing to leave behind some Sobo he bought (sorry, Daniel).
We then spent about 8 hours on a plane ride to Dublin, Ireland. Once there, we didn’t get off the plane and had to stay in our seats while they refueled. Then, we continued for another 7 hours to Chicago, Illinois. We were originally going to arrive early, but we ended up arriving about 30 minutes later than expected.
We had to locate 44 checked bags after going through customs, and the Lord blessed us with finding them all! The team loaded them onto the trailer and bus, and we started our trip to Bethany. We did make a quick stop to Culver’s for lunch along the way, though.
The Lord has provided for us and blessed us in so many ways. We thank you for your prayers, and I’m sure every team member would be willing to share about their experience the next time you see them!
