Sunday is the day of worship for believers around the world. Like many of you, we participated in Sunday morning worship services. The team was split into two groups between RBC and GBC.

This morning, Jimmy preached his sermon on 2 Kings 6 to the congregation at RBC. During the Sunday school time, Gordy taught the second half of the FOF lesson on the cross. The church was blessed by the faithful teaching of the Word.

At GBC, Josh preached on John 9–Jesus healing the blind man. Two people can witness the same miraculous act, and come away with opposite reactions. For the blind to truly see requires divine intervention.

Jon taught on 2 Kings 5–contrasting the slave girl who had nothing, selflessly wanting the best, even for an enemy, with Naaman, who had much, selfishly wanting and taking more, even though he knew it was wrong.

During this trip, we often referred to Malawi as the warm heart of Africa. Hospitality and welcoming visitors is clearly a priority here. Tonight Newton and Vanessa hosted a farewell dinner for us, as we leave tomorrow.  We assumed it would just be the team eating, as it has been on other nights, but we were surprised as many of the friends we have met throughout the trip trickled in to share in our parting meal and to say goodbye.

At dinner, we learned that when they sing happy birthday here, they have a second verse, “how old are you now?” And they end with a, “hip, hurray!” We plan to take this tradition back to America.

With all the excitement of today, the highlight has to be watching Jon finally gnaw on the sugar cane that he has been talking about all week long!

Continue to pray, please. Tomorrow, we will be visiting a special needs facility before catching our plane and beginning the journey home.
