The Lord’s hand has been evident on our team each day, and today was no exception.
Again, the children were already waiting in the parking lot of RBC, dancing, laughing, and running, as our van pulled up. It was impossible to be tired or sleepy while being greeted by their excited waves and smiles.
The games were the same as yesterday—hula hoops, soccer, parachutes, tug of war—and they were just as successful today. It was a delightful sight to see the adult teachers run in to help the little ones pull the rope when their kids were losing! We used what we learned yesterday to make a few tweaks to help the day move a bit more smoothly.
There were two crafts today. One was a wordless bracelet, each bead color represented a different color of the gospel story. Janea shared the gospel with the children, going through the meaning of each bead and a volunteer from RBC then translated the gospel story into Chichewa. The other craft was weaving a paper plate to make the shape of a cross.
The children seem to cling to each and every item we give them. They absorb each song we sing, each game we play, each smile we give.
Whether you gave financially to this trip or you are praying for us, words can’t express what a gift you have given to the church here in Malawi. They have continually expressed that this VBS would not have been possible for them without the team here to help. They have also expressed how important this VBS is to the community and how it will give RBC inroads for the gospel, not just with these kids, but with their families.
Again, several of the team members had the opportunity to visit a local university and walk around campus to share the gospel with students.
RBC recently started a Bible study and the evangelism we have done on campus will hopefully help jump start this new ministry.
On the way to the campus our van took a little detour, and we had the privilege to drive by the Malawian President’s house! The huge yellow walls, and carefully manicured grass and bushes clearly indicated that we were in an affluent part of Malawi, much different than where we have been spending our days so far.
Tomorrow is another busy day! Please pray for us. Pray specifically for Sandi’s peace of mind, as her dad is having some serious medical issues back in the states. Pray for continued health, reliance on the Holy Spirit, and the personal growth of each individual member of the team.
Zikoma!
